Before you read your chart
What is a BaZi chart?
BaZi means Eight Characters. A traditional chart pairs a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch for your birth year, month, day and hour. The day stem is called your Day Master.
Can I use this without a birth time?
Yes. Choose ‘I don't know my birth time’ to see three date-level pillars. We leave the hour pillar and Purple Star placements out. Near midnight or a solar-term change, the remaining pillars may also need confirmation.
Which time should I enter?
Use the local clock time at your birthplace and confirm its timezone. This calculator uses local civil time and traditional calendar conventions; it does not apply longitude or true solar time corrections. Other schools may use different conventions.
Does a missing element mean bad luck?
No. Visible element counts are a starting point, not a diagnosis or a complete balance assessment. Hidden stems, season and other relationships also matter in traditional interpretation.
Is the calculator free?
The chart, Day Master and basic explanations are free. A deeper interpretation is a separate step; its availability is shown before you start.
