Hexagram Statement

亨,王假有庙,利涉大川,利贞。

亨通,王去庙里举行祭祀活动,利于各国诸侯渡过大河跋山涉水来助祭,利于坚守正道。

Success. The king approaches his ancestral temple. It furthers one to cross the great water. Perseverance furthers.

Success. The king goes to the temple to perform sacrificial rites. It is favorable for the feudal lords to cross the great river and travel over mountains and rivers to assist in the sacrifice. It is favorable to abide in what is right.

Line 1

初六,用拯马壮,吉。

初六爻,取用健壮的马乘坐,赴京城去参加助祭活动,吉祥。

At the beginning, six in the first place: He rescues with the strength of a horse. Good fortune.

Line 2

九二,涣奔其机,悔亡。

九二爻,举行祭祀典礼时,快跑到摆放祭品的几案前助祭,不会有遗憾后悔。

Nine in the second place: During dispersion he hastens to his support. Remorse disappears.

The second line, nine in the second place: During the sacrificial ceremony, he hastens to the table where offerings are placed to assist. Regret disappears.

Line 3

六三,涣其躬,无悔。

六三爻,举行祭祀活动时,亲自参与助祭,不会有悔恨。

Six in the third place: He disperses his own self. No remorse.

The third line, six in the third place: During the sacrificial ceremony, he personally participates in the assistance. No remorse.

Line 4

六四,涣其群,元吉。涣有丘,匪夷所思。

六四爻,举行祭祀活动时,有一批贤能之才参与助祭,大吉祥。在王丘上举行祭典,出现意想不到的好结果。

Six in the fourth place: He disperses his group. Supreme good fortune. He disperses the cliques; then there is a mound. This is something that ordinary people would not think of.

The fourth line, six in the fourth place: During the sacrificial ceremony, a group of worthy talents participate in the assistance. Great good fortune. The ceremony is held on the royal mound, and an unexpectedly good result appears.

Line 5

九五,涣汗其大号,涣王居,无咎。

九五爻,在举行祭礼时,君王发布号令,如出身之汗,不可更改。嗣君在祭礼中继承先王君位,不会有过失。

Nine in the fifth place: He dissolves his sweat and issues his great proclamation. He dissolves the king's residence. No blame.

The fifth line, nine in the fifth place: During the sacrificial ceremony, the king issues his commands, like sweat from the body, unchangeable. The heir inherits the king's position in the ceremony. No blame.

Line 6

上九,涣其血去逖出,无咎。

上九爻,举行祭祀时,杀牲血祭,忧伤没有了,不会有过失。

Nine at the top: He disperses his blood. He goes out and keeps at a distance. No blame.

The top line, nine at the top: During the sacrificial ceremony, blood sacrifice is performed. Sorrow disappears. No blame.
